  • 90 gfrozen raspberries and blackberriessuitable for eating without cooking

Flavour

  • 7 ghoney or maple syrupabout 1 tsp

  • 10 gchopped chocolate or chocolate chipsoptional

Prep

2 min preparation, included in the total.

  1. Milk

Measure the starting amount and keep a little extra available for adjustment.

  2. Frozen berries

Use berries labelled suitable for eating without cooking. Break up large clumps. If the pack requires cooking, follow it and cool the fruit before assembling; allow extra time.

  3. Chocolate

Chop into small pieces if using a bar rather than chips.

  4. Container

Use a lidded bowl or jar with enough room to stir again before eating.

Cook

The chilling time is a minimum; overnight is ideal. The measuring and preparation above are included in the total.

  1. Build the base

    1 min
    1 min hands-on

Add the porridge oats, vanilla Skyr or Greek yoghurt and milk to the container. Stir until completely combined, scraping the base and corners so no dry oats remain.

  2. Add flavour

    1 min
    1 min hands-on

Fold in the frozen raspberries and blackberries, then add the honey or maple syrup. Add cinnamon and chocolate if using, and stir again. Add a small splash of the reserved milk if the mixture already feels too stiff.

  3. Chill

    4 hr+
    Hands off · chilling

Cover and refrigerate for at least four hours, ideally overnight. The oats will hydrate, the berries will soften and release their colour, and the mixture will become considerably thicker.

  4. Finish

    1 min
    1 min hands-on

Stir thoroughly before eating. Add a little more milk until the texture is thick but spoonable.

Kitchen notes

Divide larger builds between individual lidded containers. The chilling time stays the same.

Texture comes first

Use the measured milk to start. Stir again after chilling and add a small splash only if needed: different yoghurts and oats absorb differently.

Keep it cold

Cover and keep refrigerated. Follow the storage and use-by instructions on your yoghurt and berry packs. This is a cold breakfast; reheating is not applicable and freezing has not been tested.
